Pizza night dinner doesn’t get any more simple [or delicious] than this.
What makes these smokey bad boys is the Miyokos Creamery Smoked Vegan Mozz. This stuff is the real deal, yo. If you can’t find this at your local store, you could always sub out for plain vegan mozzarella or even a garlic cashew cream sauce would be nice. Or you could purchase it online here – not sponsored, simply sharing the l o v e . I am obsessed with all things smoked and this shii is sooo incredibly melty and perfect.
I use a simple tomato sauce for the base, but your favorite tomato sauce will do too. And I like to top with a chiffonade of basil or spinach, whatever you prefer or have on hand. Why sourdough though, you may ask? One, because flavor. It is absolutely lovely with a unique mildly sour flavor, a soft interior, and crusty exterior. It is also more easily digested than other more traditional loaves due to the particular bacteria Lactobacillus working with the yeast to predigests the starches in the grains. Fascinating, I know…
Anyway, try this next time you have that pizza craving [for me it’s every Friday night]. That’s all. Enjoy!
Smokey Sourdough Pizza Toasts
Ingredients
- 1 Loaf Fresh Sourdough Bread about 8 slices
- 1/2 Round Miyokos Creamery Smoked Vegan Mozz sliced thinly
- 1 Cup Tomato Sauce
- A Handful Fresh Basil or Spinach chiffonade
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to broil.
-
Start with freshly baked sourdough bread. I like to use ___ brand, which is half baked when I purchase so I have to go through one more (very worth it) step requiring I finishing backing the bread.
-
Slice the bread into inch width wide pieces.
-
Place pieces of bread on a parchment or silicone lined baking sheet. Top with tomato sauce and slices of cheese.
-
Broil the pizzas until the bread is nice and toasty and the cheese is melted - should take about 10 minutes.
